The Precor treadmill is known to be a high end quality equipment that is built to last. Recognized for its great durability and reliability, it’s no surprise that this treadmill can be found in many fitness gyms. There are currently 5 models on the market ranging from $2,199 to $3,999. They have all been individually reviewed but lets first take a look at Precor’s… Company Background Precor Inc. has been building equipment well over 20 years. They have developed a strong reputation with the quality of their treadmills. Their home treadmills range from $2,199 to $3,999 which isn’t cheap but you get what you pay for. Their mission statement is "To be the standard of excellence in the fitness industry." With the amount of money you will spend on a Precor treadmill, 'excellence' is exactly what you will get. Strong Point When you hear the name "Precor", the first thing that comes to mind is unbeatable warranty. They offer a lifetime warranty on frame and welds, 1 year on labor and a 10 year warranty on parts. This is a lot more then what other manufacturers will offer on their treadmills. Precor puts a lot of time, money and effort in the quality of their treadmills. They use durable, long lasting parts combined with high quality electronic consoles. It isn’t for nothing that they offer a 10 year warranty on parts. Precor treadmill decks are sturdy and can withstand a lot of usage. They have a unique Ground Effect™ Technology that has more absorption in the front of the belt where your foot hits the deck and added rigidity in the back for a firm push off. Why is this important? The deck absorbs the energy where there is a high frequency of impact (in the front) to reduce the stress on your joints and enables the user to support a solid and controlled push-off from the back. A Precor treadmill also has an Integrated Footplant™ Technology where as your foot hits the deck it reads the energy and uses the information to make minute belt-speed adjustments as you run. Basically, it synchronizes the treadmills movements with your movement. This reduces joint stress, renders your stride more smoothly and maximizes your aerobic intensity which benefits your heart and lungs. Every Precor has a powerful 3.0 HP Continuous Duty motor. This is an excellent power and you can be sure it will smoothly and efficiently rotate the belt with no lag to it. Weak Point Many consumers might see Precor’s treadmill prices as too expensive but you can be sure you get what you pay for and more. Expert Reviews In December 2002, Runner’s World, an internationally renowned running magazine, had tried and tested many treadmills and had selected the Precor treadmill as their top 3 Best Buy. Treadmill Doctor lists the Precor 9.35i as a best buy and the Precor 9.33i as 1st runner up in the $3,000 to $4,000 category. The Precor treadmill 9.31 was a 1st runner up in the $2,500 to $3,000 category. Precor received many 5 stars at Epinions.com. Conclusion The Precor treadmill has an unbeatable warranty, is stable and durable, is composed of high quality parts and received high ratings from consumer testimonials. It might be considered expensive but its price definitely reflects its quality. There is no doubt that a Precor treadmill will perform to its expectations. If your budget fits the cost, this is the treadmill for you. Treadmill Resource Center.com is constantly researching for the latest Precor treadmill reviews. The Precor M 9.23 treadmill is the lowest priced model within Precor. It is the most basic treadmill of the five but that does not stop it from performing well. It’s got a good running area, a steel one piece welded frame and a few programs that add spice to your workouts. It weighs in at 258 lbs which is a good weight for stability. A Heart rate monitor is optional with this Precor treadmill and so is the wireless chest strap. Its quality is quite good but if you are a serious runner and really want to know what Precor is about, take a look at the other Precor models. The Pacemaster treadmill is also a very solid machine with high quality parts. They are a better choice for treadmills ranging from $2,000 to $2,500. The Precor M 9.27 treadmill has the same running space as the M9.23 but with more programs. This Precor treadmill also comes with a chest strap to measure your heart rate. This chest strap can be used with two heart rate programs (enables the treadmill to automatically change its resistance in accordance to your targeted heart rate). Speaking of heart rate, this Precor treadmill has a SmartRate feature where it shows your actual heart rate in relation with your target zone for a better cardio training and/or weight loss training. Once again, this treadmill doesn’t really give you the entire benefits of owning a Precor treadmill. Take a look at the higher end Precor models. Things get much more interesting. For this price range, consider a Pacemaster treadmill. You will get a better packaged treadmill. The Precor M 9.31 treadmill is a solid overall treadmill. It’s got an excellent motor power and a good 20 by 57 inch running area. It has an Integrated Footplant Technology where the belt speed precisely adjusts as your foot hits the deck. It supports the natural motion and prevents drag that can pull your foot backwards as you move forward. This Precor treadmill has a dry lube belt lubrication that requires no maintenance. The belt is also reversible, doubling its lifespan. You also have the ability to enable and disable a password on the treadmill limiting the use to certain users. Speaking of user, you have the ability to set a users weight and age so that the treadmill becomes accustomed to that specific user. Unfortunately, this Precor treadmill does not have a heart rate monitor. The wireless chest strap is optional and therefore so is the Heart rate control. The Precor M9.33i treadmill has all of those options and more. To recap, the Precor M9.31 treadmill has an excellent motor power, a good quality, a good reliability and an excellent warranty. If you want many more extras and a better valued treadmill, look to the Precor M9.33i. Otherwise, this Precor treadmill can definitely withstand the hard pounding of a serious runner. This Precor treadmill is the new version of the old Precor M9.33 treadmill. Its console is quite similar but it has a newer look to it. Precor added more horsepower's for the same price. This treadmill still remains a best value. Its got a variety of 14 programs including 2 heart rate programs. These two heart rate programs are controlled with your heart rate. The way it works is that the treadmill monitors your heart rate through the included wireless chest strap or through the hand held heart rate monitor. You can target a specific heart rate zone so that the treadmill varies its speed and incline relative to that zone. This helps users consistently train in a desired heart rate zone. As the Precor M9.31 treadmill, this Precor treadmill has a dry lube belt lubrication that requires no maintenance. The belt is also reversible, doubling its lifespan.
