Sole treadmills are fairly new on the market but have quickly gained a solid reputation. They range from $999 to $2,499 and will be individually reviewed. Let’s first discuss Sole’s … Company Background Sole treadmills are primarily sold by Sole Fitness, a company that has been making treadmills for over 20 years. They are a very low key company primarily because they only distributed their commercial treadmills to hotel chains such as Hilton Hotel, Omini Hotel and other worldwide hotels. But since 2001, they have taken an extra leap to providing home treadmills. They are considered new to the home treadmill industry but this certainly hasn’t affected their high quality treadmills. Sole treadmills are manufactured by Dyaco, which also manufactures Spirit treadmills, a less durable treadmill. Sole targets the mid end budgeted consumers with prices ranging from $999 to $2,499. Strong Point Sole treadmills may be in the mid end range but their warranty classifies in the high end range. They generally offer a Lifetime frame, Lifetime deck, Lifetime motor, 5 years Electronics / Belt / Rollers, 2 year labor . This is outstanding for a mid end treadmill and very tough to beat. Usually, the warranty says a lot about the treadmills quality. For the price they sell, Sole definitely has great valued treadmills. Even though they are fairly new to the market, we can still say that they build durable and extremely stable machines with high quality components. This can be partially seen through their treadmills double horseshoe folding frame technology. This permits the treadmill to fold without compromising its stability. In fact, Sole is growing to be one of the best treadmill brands at building the sturdiest folding treadmills on the market. *Note* Speaking of folding, Sole has an Easy Assist Folding Deck Design that enables the deck to unfold itself without having to hold it. Their treadmills also have a Cushion Flex system that originated back in 1992. They claim that this system was recognized by a leading university as the industry’s best providing a 365% lower impact than running or walking on asphalt. This can be convincing if you are still contemplating on whether you should use a treadmill. Weak Point It is still quite early to evaluate Sole treadmill’s weaknesses. Expert Reviews The Sole F63 treadmill is Treadmilldoctor.com’s best buy for treadmills ranging from $500 to $1000. The Sole F85 treadmill is Treadmilldoctor.com's 3rd runner up for best buy. Treadmill Doctor says: “Sole is putting good components on their machines which makes perfect sense since they are putting such a long warranty on it. They are trying to sell their treadmills at a value price with a high end warranty and the result should be interesting.” On March 27, 2002, New York Times Business Section wrote this: “The portable treadmills and related gear are marketed by Fitness Equipment Services, a Salt Lake City company that designed Sole Fitness Equipment, a brand of sturdy, portable exercise gear specifically to be moved about in hotels.” Conclusion Sole treadmills are very stable machines that have not disappointed the treadmill industry one bit. Their reputation has been getting better and better with time and we hope they continue to impress us further down the road. They are solid all around. The F63 is Sole’s least expensive treadmill. It features one touch speed and incline buttons to jump straight to your desired speed or incline and Speed and Incline controls on the arm rest. It also features the low impact Cushion flex deck with a Safety Lock Deck design that locks the deck into place when the treadmill is in the upright position. Compared to the other Sole treadmills, the Sole F 63 treadmill doesn’t have the Easy Assist Folding Deck Design to easily lower the treadmill’s deck. Its warranty is two years shorter on covering the electronics/belt/rollers and one year shorter on labor but its price is incomparably cheaper. This is by far the Best treadmill under $1000. Sole has made an excellent valued treadmill with an overall good package. You simply can't find a treadmill with the same caliber as this one. The only one that comes close is the Smooth 5.25 but this one is more stable and offers more features. The Sole treadmill F83 has a more powerful motor, a faster speed limit and an added message board feature with tri-color electronics on the display. The tri-color display categorizes your heart rate into three categories. Gold, for below optimum, green, for optimum level, and red, for too high. This information lets you know if you are in the right heart rate target zone. If you absolutely want a more powerful motor, opt for this treadmill or the F85 otherwise you can’t go wrong with the F80. The Sole treadmill F85 has the longest running deck (20 x 58 inches) amongst all the folding Sole treadmills. If you are someone that absolutely needs more running room, then this treadmill can be one of your options. Just like the F83, it comes with the tri-color display, a message board and one touch speed and incline buttons. The extra 20 lbs adds more reliability and its 3.5 HP motor will give you all the power you need, if not more. This is an excellent treadmill however, are you willing to pay $1,999? It depends on your budget. This is not to say that $1,999 is too high for this treadmill, in fact, as we said earlier, Sole treadmills are great valued machines. It comes down to your needs and wants. The lower priced Sole treadmills above are high quality treadmills as well but if you want the longer belt and the higher horse powered engine, by all means go for it. The Sole S73 is a non-folding treadmill that has the same features and specifications as the Sole F83 folding treadmill. It has a speed and incline control on the arm rests and a 1/4 mile track feature with a Peak and Valley graph for different programs. Between this treadmill and the Sole treadmill F83, you may want the folding capability of the F83 if you have a lack of room otherwise, you can save $100 with the S73 and in the long run, its non-folding capability may be a safer bet for longer lasting stability. For $200 more, you can opt for the Sole treadmill S77 which we have rated as the best valued non folding Sole treadmill. Price - $1,699 Length - 75 in Width - 30 in Weight - 250 lbs Max Weight Capacity - 350 lbs Belt - 20 x 55 Double Woven 2 Ply belt Deck - Free replacements Motor - 3.0 HP Continuous Duty, DC type Speed - 0.5 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 15% Folding - No Heart Rate - Yes, Hand Pulse Grips and arm rest speed/incline controls Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - Yes Programs - 10 Programs – 6 pre-programmed workouts, 2 user defined programs and 2 heart rate programs Features - Cushion Flex Decks, Message Board, Safety Lock Deck design, Double Horseshoe Folding Frame, Tri-Color Electronics, High Torque Motors with Flywheels, 2.75” rollers, Bullet proof frames, Whisper Decks, One touch speed and incline buttons Display - Tri Color Display: Speed, Incline, Time, Distance Traveled, Calories, Pulse and Pace Warranty - Lifetime frame, Lifetime deck, Lifetime motor, 5 years Electronics / Belt / Rollers, 2 year labor [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ Sole S77 Treadmill - *NON FOLDING - BEST VALUE WITHIN SOLE*
For a treadmill under $2000, you will not find a stronger motor (3.5 HP) than the Sole treadmill S77. It also has a long belt size, stretching to 58 inches. The warranty is strong and the price is an extremely good bargain. You can’t go wrong with this treadmill. Price - $1,899 Length - 78 in Width - 30 in Weight - 280 lbs Max Weight Capacity - 400 lbs Belt - 20 x 58 Double Woven 2 Ply belt Deck - Free replacements Motor - 3.5 HP Continuous Duty, DC type Speed - 0.5 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 15% Folding - No Heart Rate - Yes, Hand Pulse Grips and arm rest speed/incline controls Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - Yes Programs - 10 Programs – 6 pre-programmed workouts, 2 user defined programs and 2 heart rate programs Features - Cushion Flex Decks, Message Board, Safety Lock Deck design, Double Horseshoe Folding Frame, Tri-Color Electronics, High Torque Motors with Flywheels, 2.75” rollers, Bullet proof frames, Whisper Decks, One touch speed and incline buttons Display - Tri Color Display: Speed, Incline, Time, Distance Traveled, Calories, Pulse and Pace Warranty - Lifetime frame, Lifetime deck, Lifetime motor, 5 years Electronics / Belt / Rollers, 2 year labor [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ Sole TT8 Treadmill - *RECOMMENDED WITHIN $2,000 - $2,500*
This Sole treadmill has the longest running deck (22 x 60 inches) amongst all the non-folding Sole treadmills. You will rarely see a 22 inch wide belt on a treadmill. Why? Increasing the surface area of a treadmill belt will make the motor work harder to continuously keep turning the belt. Therefore, it is important to make sure that the extra belt size will not compensate on the motors long term deliverance. Up to now, Sole has great motor powers on their treadmills. We believe it can handle the larger belt size. *Note* If you want to be sure your treadmill will have a longer lifespan we strongly recommend you choose one with the smallest belt size without compensating your comfort. Overall, the TT8 is an all around good treadmill. It’s got good quality components, an excellent deck size, and a very strong motor at a decent price. The Sole treadmill TT8 basically has a larger belt size and more programs then the Sole S77. Is it worth $600 more? If you absolutely want the large belt size, yes. Otherwise, the Sole S77 treadmill is a great buy. If you are willing to spend more and want a longer warranty on parts we suggest you take a look at a Precor treadmill or a Pacemaster treadmill. Two rubber layers over a middle PVC layer with a nylon backing that rolls over the deck and rollers. The rubber provides the durability, the PVC stops the belt from over-stretching and the nylon provides a smooth static free surface to glide over the deck and rollers. | | Bullet proof frames | All Sole treadmills feature epoxy powder coated paint, baked to appliance finish durability. This finish protects the all-steel construction, along with welded steel, not bolted, our frames are indestructible thus the lifetime warranty. | | Cushion Flex Decks | The Cushion Flex system offers stability for the user while providing minimal stress to hips, knees ankles and spine. | | Double Horseshoe Folding Frame | The result is a folding frame that is more stable than most non-folding frames. | | Easy Assist Folding Deck Design | This design enables the deck to unfold itself without having to hold it. | | High Torque Motors with Flywheels | Industrial quality motors are used with large diameter, all-steel zinc coated balanced flywheels for a vibration-free secure running/walking surface. Flywheels cause the motor to run cooler with less amp draw and extend the life off the motor. They also allow a start speed of 0.1mph or 1/10 of 1mph that is super slow and allows very easy and smooth starts. | | Message Board | This is an alphanumeric text center that sends scrolling messages to the user in an effort to guide them through all of the details of every workout. | | Programmable Heart Rate Controlled Workout | This option shows the persons heart rate on the console and the treadmill will adjust incline to keep the heart rate at a determined level. | | Rollers | 2.75” rollers with a sealed bearing design and copper ground wires for each roller to reduce static. | | Tri-Color Electronics | Tri-color electronics offer more features, with the Heart Rate percentage profile where your heart rate is categorized into three colors. Gold, for below optimum, green, for optimum level, and red, for too high, all of this information in real time to keep you at your best heart rate level. | | Whisper Decks | Phenolic coating is used to make the decks smooth, quiet and durable. | Click on the links below to go back to the models review: Folding Treadmills Sole F63 Treadmill - *Folding - Best Value Within Sole* Sole F80 Treadmill - *Recommended Within $1,000 - $1,499* Sole F83 Treadmill Sole F85 Treadmill - *Recommended Within $1,500 - $1,999* Non-Folding Treadmills Sole S73 Treadmill Sole S77 Treadmill - *Non Folding - Best Value Within Sole* Sole TT8 Treadmill - *Recommended Within $2,000 - $2,500* [Back to Top] Sole Fitness offers free shipping on all their resedential Sole treadmills.
