Can a Nordic Track treadmill bring long term value to your aerobic fitness workouts? We have reviewed and broken down all treadmill models Nordic Track has to offer to the fitness industry. They range between $799 and $4,999. Before the reviews let’s take a look at Nordic Track’s… Company Background Nordic Track has been in business for over 20 years and offers a variety of fitness equipment, including the ever so popular treadmill machine. They first started off with the Nordic Track Skiers and evolved to making treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, steppers, and the list goes on. The Nordic Track company is a subsidiary of Icon Health & Fitness, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of fitness equipment. Icon also manufactures treadmills for Reebok, Weslo, Proform, Healthrider and other brands. Nordic Track treadmills are mainly offered in the mid end price range but they also compete in the low and high end range. The treadmills range from as low as $799 to as high as $4,999. Strong Point Nordic Track treadmills are known to have a plethora of features. CoolAire™ Fans, CardioGrip™ Heart Rate Monitor, Carb Counter™, DuraSoft V™ Impact Cushioning, 1-Step™ Pulse Monitor are some of the many features offered with their lowest priced treadmill. There are so many integrated features in the display you’ll feel like your James Bond in action. Details on these features can be found below. Icon has been increasingly going overseas to get more of their key parts for a less expensive price. This has enabled them to improve Nordic Track treadmill‘s quality of drive motors and increase their warranties. But overall, even with the improvements, Nordic Track treadmills still has room for improvement on their warranties. The Reflex Deck™ technology on a Nordic Track treadmill has stood out to be a very popular feature for many treadmill users. This infamous technology permits the deck, as you push down on the belt, to flatten and absorb the impact, while immediately springing back to its original shape. The soft surface puts less impact on your knees, and offers a comfortable workout. Note: If you are a serious runner who competes a lot, you may want a rougher deck that simulates the road or track. Nordic Track is renowned for making very compact treadmills. Its treadmills have a unique look and feel to them that catches the eye of several fitness consumers. In general, they aren’t massive treadmills that have a lot of trouble fitting in your home. On the contrary, they are well sized for home use. Weak Point Although many features come with a Nordic Track treadmill don’t let this fool your judgment on the more important factors such as warranty, reliability and quality. In fact, the many features that come with a Nordic Track treadmill may cause you some hassles down the road. Why so you ask? Nordic Track treadmills, in general, don’t have the superior quality finish as other treadmill brands in the same price range offer. We must say, they have been improving their treadmills durability but they do have a reputation of lagging behind the competition. For the price you will pay on a Nordic track treadmill, the warranty does not match the treadmills durability. Most of Nordic Track’s treadmills offer a lifetime on motor, one year on parts and one year for in-home service. This is not a horrible warranty but taking the many features their treadmills offer into consideration, we would like to see a longer warranty on parts. They offer extended warranties from 1 to 3 years. Expert Reviews There have been many expert reviews conducted on Nordic Track treadmills. Among the best are: Runner’s World magazine, an internationally renowned running magazine. Treadmilldoctor.com, a company that emphasizes in providing advice to consumers about purchasing treadmills. Costumer reviews at Epinions.com Here is what the experts had to say about Nordic Track treadmills: - Runner’s world ranked the Nordic Track 8600 Treadmill as their 2nd top pick. “The 8600 is built like a tank, with a massive display console and the heaviest frame of any treadmill we tested.”
- Treadmill Doctor says this about Nodic Track treadmills: « These products are produced by Icon Health and Fitness. They are the largest retail fitness company. This well-known brand name is heavy on features and light on construction although their hiker unit (now incline trainers) held up reasonably well in the home after they had that small recall problem. Since the original NordicTrack went bankrupt, this has become another Icon brand name. The treadmills are beautifully packaged machines and look great in your home. They have had a flurry of failures including, upper boards, lower boards, rear endcaps, etc. and they are much more expensive to repair than a Proform model, another brand made by the same company. “
- Consumers at Epinions.com have given high star ratings to the older Nordic Track treadmills. There are not many reviews on the newer models.
Conclusion Nordic Track treadmills have always gotten mixed reviews. What stands out are their mega featured but low quality treadmills. This is not to say that all treadmills are in the same boat. Nordic Track does have a few models that stick out from the rest. You will get a better idea of what models to stay away from and what models to consider after reading our model reviews below. With a weight of 195 lbs we would only recommend this Nordic Track treadmill to walkers or light joggers but if you are a frequent runner, take a look at treadmills above $1500. For $50 more, the Nordic Track C2300 has more horse power, two more programs and a better cushioning deck than the Nordic Track C2200. Nordic Track has incorporated a Carb Counter™ to approximately track the total number of carbohydrate grams you burn during your workout. As mentioned above, we highly recommend runners to look at treadmills above $1500. This Nordic Track treadmill is not made for heavy abuse. For the same price category, we recommend you take a look at more reliable and stable brands such as Smooth and Sole. You will receive a much longer warranty with much more stability. It is being sold at a very low sale price and should be considered. The original price of $1,599 was way too much for a low quality treadmill as this one but $999 is much more reasonable. Overall, many features come with this Nordic Track treadmill. It has a heart rate monitor with 2 heart rate control programs that permit you to consistently workout in your desired heart rate zone. It is also iFit compatible. iFIT.com provides programmed workouts via the Internet, compact discs or video that actually control the speed and intensity of your fitness equipment. The belt is an average size that gives you a decent amount of room to walk. The warranty has a lifetime on motor which is excellent but the warranty on parts is weak. Ideally you would want a warranty of 3 years on parts. Please note that this Nordic Track treadmill should only be used if you will walk on it or go for a light jog, nothing more. It is not made to be used at a high intensity and if it is it will deteriorate in the long run. Price - $999 Length - 71.6 in Width - 36.9 in Height - 60.28 in Weight - 225 lb User Weight Capacity - 300 lb Belt - 20 x 55 in 1-Ply Treadbelt Reversible Deck - No Motor - 2.25 HP continuous duty motor Speed - 0 to 10 mph Incline - 0 to 12% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 10 built in programs - 8 Pre-programmed, 2 Heart Rate Features - Solaris™ Illumination Console, Commercial-Grade Motor, 2.25 CHP Deca™ Drive System, iFit.com® Compatible, 1-Step™ Speed and Incline Control, EKG™ Heart Rate Monitor, Adjustable Intensity Control, Dual AutoBreeze™ Fans, Reflex Deck™ Technology, Personal Profile™ Center, Carb Counter™, Training Zone Indicator, Odometer MyMiles™ Tracker Display - 7 x 10 workout matrix display - Speed, Incline, Pace, Time, Segment time, Distance, Carbohydrates burned, Calories burned, Pulse Home Warranty - Lifetime Motor Warranty, 10 Year Frame, One Year Parts/One Year In Home Labor Warranty (1 year extended warranty = $89, 2 year extended warranty = $119, 3 year extended warranty = $149) [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ NordicTrack Viewpoint 2800 Treadmill The NordicTrack Treadmill ViewPoint 2800 has a unique twist to it; a 7" Interactive Flat-Screen TV with speakers. With this extra feature you can be sure to always stay entertained while you exercise. Another exclusive feature this treadmill offers is a remote control to change the speed and incline. This avoids the hassle of having to keep your finger on the speed button while you are jogging. Aside from the flat screen TV and remote control, this Nordic Track treadmill is similar to the C2200 and C 2300. Running at high speeds might shake up the flat screen TV causing it to malfunction down the road. Remember, there’s only a one year warranty on parts. Replacing a broken interactive TV can be expensive. Price - $1,299 Length - 76 in Width - 34 in Height - 58 in Weight - 195 lbs User Weight Capacity - 350 Belt - 20 x 55 in Reversible Deck - No Motor - 2.5 continuous duty motor Speed - 0 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 12% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 18 Built-in Programs - 12 Pre-programmed, 4 Heart Rate, 2MyDesign customizable workouts Features - 7" Interactive Flat-Screen TV and Built-In Speakers, Remote Control, Grafixx™ Hi-Res Display, DuraSoft V™ Impact Cushioning, Solaris™ Illumination Console, 2 Personal Profile™ Centers, iFit.com® Compatible, AirLight™ Lift Assist, 1-Step™ Speed and Incline Control, CardioGrip™ Heart Rate Monitor, AutoBreeze™ Fans, Carb Counter™, Odometer MyMiles™ Tracker, Training Zone Meter, Precision-Machined Rollers Display - Speed, Incline, Pace, Time, Segment time, Distance, Carbohydrates burned, Calories burned, Pulse Home Warranty - Lifetime Motor Warranty, 10 Year Frame, One Year Parts/One Year In Home Labor Warranty (1 year extended warranty = $89, 2 year extended warranty = $119, 3 year extended warranty = $149) [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ NordicTrack 4400 R Treadmill This NordicTrack treadmill is quite the disappointment. Other than a larger workout matrix display (displays your workout intensity through a graph or intensity bars) and the Dual-User Personal Profile™ Center, this treadmill is way overpriced. You can basically get the same specs at a lower price with the Nordic Track Treadmill Viewpoint 2800. Price - $1,499 Length - 74 in Width - 32 in Height - 56 in Weight - 180 lbs User Weight Capacity - 300 Belt - 20 x 55 in Reversible Deck - No Motor - 2.5 continuous duty motor Speed - 0 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 12% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 12 Built-in Programs - 8 Pre-programmed, 2 Heart Rate, 2 Pulse Features - Solaris™ Illumination Console, Commercial-Grade Motor, 2.5 CHP Deca™ Drive System, iFit.com® Compatible, 1-Step™ Speed and Incline Control, EKG™ Heart Rate Monitor, Adjustable Intensity Control, AutoBreeze™ Fans, Reflex Deck™ Technology, Carb Counter™, Dual-User Personal Profile™ Center, Training Zone Indicator, Odometer MyMiles™ Tracker and 2 Profile memory Display - 7 x 15 workout matrix display - Speed, Incline, Pace, Time, Segment time, Distance, Carbohydrates burned, Calories burned, Pulse Home Warranty - Lifetime Motor Warranty, 10 Year Frame, One Year Parts/One Year In Home Labor Warranty (1 year extended warranty = $89, 2 year extended warranty = $119, 3 year extended warranty = $149) [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ NordicTrack Elite 2900 Treadmill This Nordic Track treadmill is a newer model. It has a very appealing package and a very good value. Nordic Track came out with another new feature called the ZipSpeed and ZipIncline. With this feature you can instantly change your speed and/or incline by sliding your finger to your desired setting. The idea seems interesting but it will only add more electronic problems down the road. Nordic Track is trying to be a little too innovative. The belt size on the NordicTrack Elite 2900 treadmill is quite the perfect size. The 20 inch width leaves you room on the side to unconsciously move left to right and the 60 inch length is long enough to avoid the impression that you are falling off the end of the treadmill. The 2.75 Continuous Duty motor is a good power to have and you can be sure it will be strong enough to power the large belt size. On a more negative note, this Nordic Track treadmill has a below average warranty. You might be asking yourself how come since it has lifetime on motor and 10 years on frame. Parts are always an important aspect to look at and a one year warranty on parts just doesn’t cut it. Opt for the extended warranty. The quality on this treadmill is nothing to celebrate about either. It is not bad nor is it excellent. To sum it up, the Nordic Track Elite 2900 treadmill is an average performing treadmill with a nice look and a good value to it. You might be impressed with it at the beginning but down the road your opinion will change; unless you only use it to walk and jog. If you want a better treadmill make sure you look at quality, warranty and reliability; something that a Smooth treadmill has. Price - $1,499 Length - 76 in Width - 29 in Height - 64 in Weight - 205 lbs User Weight Capacity - 350 lbs Belt - 20 x 60 inch Reversible Deck - Yes Motor - 2.75 Continuous Duty Motor Speed - 0 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 12% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 21 Built-in Programs - 15 Pre-programmed, 4 Heart Rate, 2 Learned workouts Features - ZipSpeed and ZipIncline, Commercial-Grade Motor, 2.75 CHP DurX™ Drive System, iFit.com® Compatible with cards, CardioGrip™ Heart Rate Monitor, Workout Intensity Meter, AutoBreeze™ Workout Fan, DuraSoft™ Advanced™ Cushioning, Odometer with MyMiles™, AirLight™ Lift Assist. Display - Speed, Incline, Pace, Time, Segment time, Distance, Calories burned, Pulse Home Warranty - Lifetime Motor Warranty, 10 Year Frame, One Year Parts/One Year In Home Labor Warranty (1 year extended warranty = $89, 2 year extended warranty = $119, 3 year extended warranty = $149) [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ NordicTrack Viewpoint TV Treadmill The NordicTrack ViewPoint TV treadmill has an extra wide 22 inch deck that gives you an enormous space to run comfortably without having to worry about getting too close to the sides. It features a 10.2” Interactive flat-screen TV that enables you to watch your own DVD and it also has satellite capabilities. With its 3.0 continuous duty motor and heavy weight, this is no weak treadmill. The deck allows a stable workout and its 33 programs will ensure to add spice to your workouts. Overall, the Nordic Track treadmill Viewpoint TV offers a fine stability, a heart rate monitor with heart rate control, an interactive TV, a wide and long deck, a powerful motor and a good impact absorbing deck. On the down side, its warranty is way too weak to back up its strong points. Price - $1,699 Length - 84 in Width - 39 in Height - 63 in Weight - 370 lbs User Weight Capacity - 350 Belt - 22 x 60 in Reversible Deck - No Motor - 3.0 continuous duty motor Speed - 0 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 12% Folding - No Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 33 Built-in Programs - 25 pre-programmed workouts, 4 heart rate workouts, 4 MyDesign™ workouts Features - 10.2" Interactive Flat-Screen TV, Remote Control, Commercial-Grade Motor, 3.0 CHP Deca™ Drive System, iFit.com® Compatible, 1-Step™ Speed and Incline Control, CardioGrip™ Heart Rate Monitor, Adjustable Intensity Control, AutoBreeze™ Fans, ActiveResponse™ Impact Absorption, Carb Counter™, Training Zone Indicator, 4 Personal Profile™ Center, Odometer MyMiles™ Tracker and 4 Profile memory Display - Speed, Incline, Pace, Time, Segment time, Distance, Carbohydrates burned, Calories burned, Pulse Home Warranty - Lifetime Motor Warranty, 10 Year Frame, One Year Parts/One Year In Home Labor Warranty (1 year extended warranty = $89, 2 year extended warranty = $119, 3 year extended warranty = $149) [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ NordicTrack 7000 R Treadmill Even though the Nordictrack 7000R treadmill is on sale, paying $1,999 for something that has a weak warranty and a weak reliability is just wrong. Take a look at a Sole treadmill or a Pacemaster treadmill. You will be much more confident with your decision. Price - $1,999 Length - 78.25 in Width - 37 in Height - 66.25 in Weight - 300 lbs User Weight Capacity - 300 Belt - 20 x 60 in Reversible Deck - No Motor - 3.0 continuous duty motor Speed - 0 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 12% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 12 Built-in Programs - 8 Pre-programmed, 2 Heart Rate, 2 Pulse Features - Solaris™ Illumination Console, Commercial-Grade Motor, 3.0 CHP Deca™ Drive System, iFit.com® Compatible, 1-Step™ Speed and Incline Control, EKG™ Heart Rate Monitor, Adjustable Intensity Control, Two AutoBreeze™ Fans, Reflex Deck™ Technology, Carb Counter™, Training Zone Indicator, Odometer MyMiles™ Tracker and 2 Profile memory Display - 7 x 15 workout matrix display - Speed, Incline, Pace, Time, Segment time, Distance, Carbohydrates burned, Calories burned, Pulse Home Warranty - Lifetime Motor Warranty, 10 Year Frame, One Year Parts/One Year In Home Labor Warranty (1 year extended warranty = $89, 2 year extended warranty = $119, 3 year extended warranty = $149) [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ NordicTrack Elite 3200 TV Treadmill This Nordic Track treadmill is basically the same model as the Nordic Track Elite 2900 but with a more powerful motor and an added flat screen TV on the display. It also has a total of 39 programs including MyDesign Workouts that enable you to customize workouts for your own personal preferences and Calorie Workouts that are designed to help you reach a set number of calories burned during a workout. All of this might sound very good but when it comes down to warranty, quality and reliability, $2,199 is just not worth it. A one year warranty on parts is below average and Nordic Track’s track record still hasn’t proved to us that its treadmills are reliable enough. We say pass on this one and look to a Pacemaster treadmill or a Life Fitness treadmill. Price - $2,199 Length - 75 in Width - 30 in Height - 63 in Weight - 210 lbs User Weight Capacity - 400 lbs Belt - 20 x 60 inch Reversible Deck - Yes Motor - 3.25 Continuous Duty Motor Speed - 0 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 12% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 39 Built-in Programs - 25 Pre-programmed, 4 Heart Rate, 4 MyDesign Workouts, 4 Calorie Workouts, 1 10K Workout, 1 Marathon Workout Features - 8.4" Flat Screen TV With Speakers, ZipSpeed and ZipIncline, Commercial-Grade Motor, 2.75 CHP DurX™ Drive System, iFIT® Workout Card Technology with Speakers, CardioGrip™ Heart Rate Monitor, Workout Intensity Meter, AutoBreeze™ Workout Fan, DuraSoft™ Advanced™ Cushioning, Odometer with MyMiles™, AirLight™ Lift Assist. Display - Speed, Incline, Pace, Time, Segment time, Distance, Calories burned, Pulse Home Warranty - Lifetime Motor Warranty, 10 Year Frame, One Year Parts/One Year In Home Labor Warranty (1 year extended warranty = $89, 2 year extended warranty = $119, 3 year extended warranty = $149) [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ NordicTrack S 1900 Institutional Treadmill Getting straight to the point, the NordicTrack S 1900 Institutional treadmill has an excellent motor power, a large belt size, an excellent cushion and some good features. However, its warranty is weak and its quality is average. It would be shameful to pay large amounts of money for a treadmill brand that doesn’t even have the confidence of backing up its high priced treadmills. Take a look at a Precor treadmill or a Life Fitness treadmill. They both have a top rated reputation. Price - $2,599 Length - 76 in Width - 29 in Height - 64 in Weight - 205 lbs User Weight Capacity - 350 lbs Belt - 20 x 60 inch 2-ply Belt Reversible Deck - No Motor - 3.0 Continuous Duty Motor Speed - 0 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 12% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - Yes Programs - 14 Built-in Programs - 10 Pre-programmed, 2 Heart Rate, 2 Pulse Features - Commercial-Grade Motor, 1-Touch™ Speed Control, iFIT.com® Compatible, EKG™ Cardio Pulse Heart Rate Monitor, Workout Intensity Meter, DuraSoft™ Cushioning, Lift Assist. Display - 7 x 10 Matrix Display with 6 Window: Speed, Incline, Pace, Time, Segment time, Distance, Calories burned, Pulse Home Warranty - Lifetime Motor Warranty, 10 Year Frame, One Year Parts/One Year In Home Labor Warranty (1 year extended warranty = $89, 2 year extended warranty = $119, 3 year extended warranty = $149) [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ NordicTrack S 3000 Institutional Treadmill It was surprising to see Nordic Track increase their usual one year warranty on parts to two years. This is a good sign for Nordic Track’s future and a big improvement. They must feel confident that the NordicTrack S 3000 Institutional treadmill will perform well for several years. However, two years hasn’t convinced us yet. Ideally, for a treadmill above $2,500, you would at least want a 3 year warranty on parts. This Nordic Track treadmill definitely has impressive specifications. It has a powerful 5.0 HP motor that will easily turn the large 20 by 60 belt. It has a wireless chest strap heart rate monitor with 3 pulse workouts and 9 pre-set programs. The Nordic Track S300 Institutional treadmill has a very efficient feature called the 1-Touch™ Speed Control. Let us explain what it is: the treadmill has a row of buttons toward the bottom of the console that have the numbers 1-12 on it. Each number corresponds to a mph speed. So if you are jogging at 5 mph and wish to start running at 7 mph, rather than pressing and holding the up arrow you can just select the button labeled 7 and the treadmill will gradually increase to 7 mph. Most of the Nordic Track treadmills have this feature. Overall, this Nordic Track treadmill is an average quality machine with nice features but a low warranty. Knowing that a Precor treadmill is sold in the same price range just makes the Nordic track treadmill look horrible. Precor has very good quality parts and an excellent warranty. A Life Fitness is also an excellent high end brand. Price - $2,699 Length - 75 in Width - 30 in Height - 63 in Weight - 210 lbs User Weight Capacity - 350 lbs Belt - 20 x 60 inch 2-ply Belt Reversible Deck - No Motor - 5.0 Commercial Grade Motor Speed - 0 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 15% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - Yes Programs - 13 Built-in Programs - 9 Pre-programmed, 1 Fitness Test Workout, 3 Pulse Workouts Features - Commercial-Grade Motor, 1-Touch™ Speed Control, iFIT.com® Compatible, EKG™ Cardio Pulse Heart Rate Monitor, Workout Intensity Meter, DuraSoft™ Cushioning, Lift Assist. Display - 8 x 30 Matrix Display: Speed, Incline, Pace, Time, Segment time, Distance, Calories burned, Fat Calories Burned, Maximum Percent Heart rate Home Warranty - Lifetime Motor Warranty, 10 Year Frame, 2 Years on Parts, One Year Belt and Deck, One Year In Home Labor Warranty (1 year extended warranty = $89, 2 year extended warranty = $119, 3 year extended warranty = $149) [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ NordicTrack 8600 Treadmill - *RECOMMENDED ABOVE $4000* The NordicTrack treadmill 8600 has definitely built itself a solid reputation amongst the Nordic Track treadmills. This commercial treadmill is i-Fit compatible which means you can download programmed workouts via the Internet, compact discs or video that actually control the speed and intensity of your fitness equipment. The control buttons on the display are large and easy to use. It also immediately delivers feedback on everything including calories burned, pulse rate and carbohydrates burned. This treadmill is built like a tank. It’s extremely long and weighs like a ton of bricks. Nordic Track has finally shown us they are capable of creating a stable and long lasting treadmill that has a superior quality finish. Overall, this Nordic Track treadmill is quite the package. The 8600’s main weakness is its warranty. For the price you are paying on a treadmill, one year on parts just doesn’t cut it. This is why we recommend the extended warranty. For a similar price, brands such as Precor and Landice offer a much better warranty. *Important* This treadmill requires a 20 amp outlet. You might have to re-wire your house to be able to exert 20 amps. Otherwise, the treadmill won’t work. Price - $4,195 Length - 84 in Width - 37 in Height - 68 in Weight - 400 lbs User Weight Capacity - 300 Belt - 20 x 60 in Reversible Deck - No Motor - 5.0 Continuous Duty Motor Speed - 0 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 15% Folding - No Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - Optional Programs - 12 Built-in Programs Features - DuraSoft Compound™ Cushioning, Cardio-Grip™ Pulse Sensor, 1 Step™ speed control, iFit.com® Compatible Display - 8 x 30 Club Style Navigator™ Dot Matrix Console - Speed, Incline, Pace, Time, Segment time, Distance, Carbohydrates burned, Calories burned, Pulse Home Warranty - Lifetime Motor Warranty, 10 Year Frame, One Year Parts/One Year In Home Labor Warranty [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ NordicTrack Professional Series 3500 Treadmill This Nordic Track treadmill has a similar look to the reputable NordicTrack 8600 treadmill but weighs a lot less. With the success of the 8600, Nordic Track is really trying to maintain its status by building similar treadmills in the same price range. The only problem is that the 8600 was built of quality components but the two Professional series treadmills lack the long term durablility. Of course, aside from the warranty and average reliability, the NordicTrack Professional Series 3500 treadmill has an excellent overall package. It has a large running area and an excellent motor power. The Durasoft cushioning is an excellent support for the joints and the large 8 x 30 inch display will certainly keep you track of your running or walking stats. The main problem arises on the warranty (a consistent problem with Nordic Track), reliability and value. Even though they have increased their warranty on parts from one year two years, it still isn’t sufficient enough for such a high priced treadmill as this one. Speaking of price, they decided that because, unlike the other Nordic Track treadmills, this treadmill had a reversible deck and a two year warranty on parts that it is worth selling it for $4,499. It may be good but not that good. Stick with the Nordic Track 8600 treadmill. It is less expensive, has a much more powerful motor, has an incredible stability and has a good reliability. Otherwise, look at a Life Fitness treadmill. The programs consist of 2 heart rate control workouts. This is important to consistently keep your heart level in a certain desired zone. The way it works is that the treadmill reads your heart rate through the hand grip heart rate monitor and then adjusts its speed and incline relative to your target heart rate zone. Once again, this Nordic Track treadmill has all the essentials and more. Warranty is the main weakness and therefore you should opt in for the extended warranty. Of course, comparing a Nordic Track treadmill to a Life Fitness treadmill is a different story. Life Fitness already has an established name for itself in the high end price range. Nordic Track is just beginning. This is why you should try every treadmill you consider and keep in mind what brand you are dealing with. Nordic Track still has a lot of work to do on the quality side of their treadmills. Reliability usually reflects quality. Stick to brands that are known to execute in the long run.
