Nordic Track, Reebok, and Health Rider are other brands that operate alongside Proform under the expanding exercise equipment company Icon Fitness. Over the years, Proform had introduced a variety of models in the low to mid price range to accommodate the different need in their clients. They strive for customer satisfaction and are currently innovating new ideas to increase the quality of their treadmills. Proform treadmills are one of the leading brands in their price range. Strong Point Proform is also trying to improve on the quality of the treadmill. They have focussed on improving the quality of the motor and adding features that allow the treadmill to interact more with the user. You can see this through their warranty; which generally have a long motor warranty, but 90 days for the rest. Affordability may be another strong point, provided that the machine does not break down, causing perhaps more spending in repairs than the machine itself. Weak Point It’s a shame that this company is so popular because its products do not seem to over deliver. In fact, the main advantage that Proform has over other competing treadmill brands is its affordability. Most Pro form treadmills will range from 500$ - 1500$. The warranty is a direct reflection of the quality of the treadmill. Proform treadmills are known to have to poor warranties. They recently made extra efforts in lengthening the warranty on the motor. Its warranty is rather short when compared to Nordic Track and Image. Opt for the extended warranty (1 year for $69, 2 years for $99 and 3 years for $119) These treadmills are fabricated with lower quality parts. Breakdown of Pro Form treadmills echoes in the treadmill community. Proform treadmill ratings among experts are sub par. Proform treadmills are known for malfunction and the breakdown of parts. The need for better reliability, the short warranty duration, and poor quality are all contributing factors to Proform’s “poorer” reviews. Epinions.com rated the Proform 540 and the Crosswalk Caliber treadmill 3.5 star and 5 stars out of 5, respectively. There were 2 reviews for each model. Conclusion Proform specialises in the low to mid end treadmills. And we must emphasize that! A buyer can not expect a performing treadmill that is comparable to a more expensive, high end treadmill like Precor. Of course, a 5000$ treadmill is bound to exceed the performance of a 1000$ treadmill. The Proform 350 is yet another model below $500. Similar to the Performance X, this model’s belt is simply too short to run at high speed. This would be ideal for walking or a light jog, at most. Like all proform treadmills with a weak motor, the inclination begins at 1.5% to help gravity pull the belt down; this compensates the low HP motor. You can expect a feature packed machine, but that’s all you should expect. With this low warranty, the features won’t be doing much if your machine breaks down. This being said, the Proform 350 is one of the top treadmills below $500. It is not saying much, if you are looking for a cheap treadmill, the 350 would be a better choice. Price - $399

The 400 X is not much different from the other Proform treadmills in the below $500 range. They all have weak motors, small belts and weal warranties. The 400X Proform is a crosstrainer. It has weights below the console for power walking. Since the belt is small and motor not powerful, walking pace might be the only speed you can move at. The 525X Proform treadmill is yet another model offered by Proform that has a weak motor, smaller belt and features. Three pairs of included hand weights give you an upper- and lower-body workout. The weights are perhaps an advantage to your training program. For a treadmill under $500, this model is decent. Of course, the features make it seem like a more expensive machine but we must emphasize on the short warranty, low quality, and little durability; a typical flaw among Proform treadmills. The 525X is the newer version of the discontinued Crosstrainer VX. There are some slight differences. The 730 Proform treadmill is known for its low noise with its commercial grade motor. In addition, the console is very well designed and very user friendly. Proform treadmills that are above $700 are much better choices than those below. Its larger belt, more powerful motor allows you to run at higher speeds safely. 2 heart rate control programs can help you stay in your target cardio zone for better results. The Proform 730 is a decent model but a 90 days warranty on parts and labor is common among Proform treadmills and is too weak. Although the 730 allows you to run at higher speeds compared to the previous models, we would suggest other treadmill brands. Price - $749
