Company Background

Trimline started operations in 1994. Founded by Bill, Joe and Bob Hebb, they built this business on the philosophy of offering top-quality and user-friendly treadmills at affordable prices.

Trimline treadmills are simple in design. It has very little features; instead it focuses on its durability and stability. Today’s models are examples of such designs. They all have welded frames, roller of at least 2.5 inches, and cushioning decks to minimize impact on your joints.

Unfortunately, with the new trend to purchase overseas, Trimline was obligated to take that path in order to lessen the pricing pressure imposed by other brands. Trimline treadmill prices were already higher than the mean due to its higher labor costs.

Trimline has been a survivor for years though and we would expect to see them continue. The low end of the line has already been outsourced to Asian suppliers and we would expect that trend to continue.

Strong Point

Aside from its base models, Trimline treadmills have a good cushioning system. (The base models have a small belt size; therefore the cushioning is not required since running is not recommended in the first place.) The Softtrak technology provides good cushioning for runners.

Trimline treadmills come with industrial strength motors. They are designed to run smoother with less struggle compared to other motors in its price range. With a 30 year warranty to back it up, you know that this part is of high quality.

Weak Point

The warranty on parts is weak due to its outsourcing of its parts. Other brands in Trimline treadmill’s price range have better overall warranties. It seems that Trimline put all its eggs in one basket and invested on powerful and long-lasting motors.

The next weak point is its reliability and quality. This comes back to the issue of overseas purchasing. The quality of the machine is compromised and a poorer quality means lower reliability.

Epinions.com reviews gave the t350HR 5 star out of 5 (1 reviewer).

Consumersearch.com suggests the t350HR, stating that it is a wiser pick than the Smooth 5.25P.

TreadmillDoctor.com states that the t360 is the best Trimline treadmill they have to offer. They also state that on the lower models, “the corners are cut where you can cut them.”

Trimline treadmills are decent machines. We do not think they are the best in its price range and there are other brands out there that provide a better value for money.

As a base model, the t305 Trimline treadmill is not impressive. For a machine that offers an 18x49 inch belt size and 1.5 CHP motor, you would not expect the price tag to reach over $1,000.

To quote treadmilldoctor, "Trimline’s first shot at bringing in an import is a swing and a miss!"

The one good thing about the t305 is that you won’t need to worry about the motor. But everything else besides that is a coin toss. The overall rating of this model is below average; look at a Smooth treadmill or Sole Treadmill.

Trimline t315 Treadmill

The Trimline t 315 costs $100 more than the t305. For this amount, you get a more powerful motor, and 8 built in programs. The rest of the specs are pretty much the same.

The 315t Trimline treadmill is foldable and has a softdrop technology which feature hydraulics that lower the unit slowly and smoothly. Its welded frame provides more stability than bolted treadmills.

This being said, this model is definitely an improvement over the t305. However, the overall value of this Trimline treadmill is not sufficient for us to recommend it. It’s a basic treadmill and we would go with a Smooth treadmill over this one.

Trimline t325 Treadmill

The t325 Trimline treadmill is the first model worthy of taking a look at. This model has a good belt size (20 x 57 in) and a 2.5 CHP motor. These specs are good for running.

It is a decent treadmill even though its reliability and quality need some work. Like all Trimline treadmills, its warranty is below average. For an average rating, we would expect the warranty on parts to be at least 3 years.

If $1,500 is your price range, Smooth treadmills and Sole treadmills are good alternatives. They have a better overall value than Trimline treadmills.

Trimline t335HR Treadmill

The t335 HR is the first Trimline treadmill to include a wireless chest strap and heart rate control programs. This can be very useful to target a specific heart rate zone.

Training in your target heart rate zone may be more effective than training based on time.

Another addition to the t335HR is the walk, jog and run quick keys. These buttons are programmed to change the speed to a walking, jogging, or running pace that you will assign. (for example, you can set the walk key to 3.0 mph, jogging key to 6.2 mph, and running to 7.4 mph.)

The T335 HR comes with an 8 x 20 dot matrix that visually displays course profiles to see upcoming hills and other challenges. It also includes hand rail toggle speed and incline keys.

The main weakness of the t335 HR Trimline treadmill is its warranty. Pacemaster treadmill could be a better choice.

Trimline t340 Treadmill

Looking at the t 340 , one would question why this Trimline treadmill costs more than the t335 HR but has less to offer (No heart rate programs, no wireless chest strap and a less powerful motor).

This is the first Trimline that is built in America. Better quality and resilience (maybe that’s why).

Treadmilldoctor.com says “The first Trimline treadmill built in the US and it is the first one that we would consider from Trimline if we wanted a mid-priced treadmill”.

Although the t340 Trimline treadmill is more reliable and has a higher quality, we would suggest Pavemaster treadmills or Smooth treadmills for a better value.

Trimline t345 Treadmill

The Trimline t345 is another decent model. Its 20 x 54 belt size is the industry’s good size. The 2.5 CHP motor allows this machine to speed up to 11 mile per hour.

Again, it would be good to see a better warranty. All Trimline treadmills have the same warranty. The warranty may be suitable for the lower end models (warranty to price ratio). However when moving up in price, the warranty gets weaker and weaker; and so does the value.

On a brighter note, the t345 was rated as one of the top foldable models in the market.

We would opt for a Folding Sole treadmill.
