Keys Treadmill Review - Does a Keys Treadmill Do the Work Or Should You Look Elsewhere?

A Keys treadmill ranges from $1,499 to $2,299. We have reviewed two of Keys models which you will find below but first let’s take a look at Key’s …

Company Background

Keys Fitness is a US based (Garland, Texas) manufacturer and distributor of many fitness equipment including the ever so popular treadmill. Aside from Keys treadmills, Keys fitness owns many more treadmill brands such as Alliance, Healthtrainer, Discovery, Ironman, and Encore.

Keys started out in the business world by producing weights and strength training products. Since 1997, they joined the treadmill industry and started offering consumers their large selection of treadmills. Being fairly new to the market, Keys started off at a slow pace but has been showing a considerable improvement since their debut. This leads us to their…

Strong Point

Many parts are found overseas but assembled in the US. In general, Keys delivers a high powered treadmill for a decent price.

A Keys treadmill has an excellent frame and motor warranty. Lifetime warranty on motor may seem perfect to you but it’s important to also take into account its two year warranty on parts, which could be better.

Keys offers a nice range of features with their treadmills. Such features include an innovative body fat monitoring system and a one touch speed and incline button.

Weak Point

The main weakness of a Keys treadmill is the poor assembly quality. Keys has been known to have a weak “finish” quality. Down the road, this may cause you to have more service visits. It’s a shame to see these treadmills be assembled in a low quality fashion but there have been signs of improvement.

Several Keys treadmills have had a reputation of having electronic failures. It is fairly tough to rely on a Keys treadmill.

Expert Reviews

Treadmill Doctor (tmdoctor.com) wasn’t too impressed with Keys treadmills. This is what they had to say, “Still in their early stages, they still have a way to go in manufacturing quality and some of the parts still leave much to be desired but you have to give them credit for steadily improving.”

Conclusion

Keys fitness is relatively new to the treadmill industry and there have been signs of improvement since their start. Although they offer decent valued treadmills there are treadmill brands that will give you a better run for your money.

Keys 4500T Treadmill - *BEST VALUE WITHIN KEYS*

Keys treadmill - Keys 4500t treadmill

This Keys treadmill is the entry level of the Keys treadmill. It has a nice ergonomically designed console that has a unique blue backlit color to it. Of all the Keys treadmills, this one definitely has the best value for money.

Although the Keys 4500 T is a good valued treadmill with a strong motor, its reliability is quite weak. We recommend you take a look at the more reputable brands known for their strong quality and excellent value. These brands consist of Smooth, Pacemaster and Sole.

Keys 5500T Treadmill

Keys treadmill - Keys 5500t treadmill

The Keys 5500 T treadmill is similar to the Keys treadmill 4500T but it has an added wireless chest strap with a heart rate control program and an orthopedic belt. Both treadmills perform similarly and this is why we would save our $300 and choose the Keys 4500T over this one. Ideally, we would choose a different brand such as Smooth, Pacemaster or Sole.

*Note*
An orthopedic belt will not make a huge difference in cushioning. It weighs more than a regular belt and this will create the motor to work harder. Consequently, in the long run, the orthopedic belt will reduce your treadmills life span.
