Schwinn Treadmill - Find Out Where It Stands in the Treadmill Industry

Among the Schwinn treadmill line, we have reviewed all three models (which you will find below). Schwinn treadmills range from $1,399 to $1,999. Before getting into to the meat of the matter, let’s take a look at Shwinn’s…

Company Background

Schwinn is owned by Nautilus Health & Fitness Group. Nautilus is, aside from Icon Health & Fitness, the largest seller of fitness equipment. They own brands such as, Trimline, Stairmaster and Bowflex.

Schwinn has most of their treadmills produced overseas which can partially explain the low quality parts used. We’ll get into their weak points soon but first, let’s be optimistic and start off with their…

Strong Point

A Schwinn treadmill is backed with a solid 30 year motor warranty. They definitely have confidence in their core drive system but what about the rest? 2 years parts, 1 year wear items. It’s looking gloomy.

What other strong point can we talk about. Let’s see… oh yes, Schwinn’s solid reputation. Schwinn has built a solid name for themselves especially with their spinning bikes but when it comes to treadmills the name just won’t cut it. Which leads us to their…

Weak Point

As stated above, Schwinn treadmills are average quality fitness equipment but at the price they sell, average is not an option. There are much better treadmill brands on the market. Take a look the Smooth treadmill line up. You can get a very good overall treadmill.

The warranty on parts and labor is quite lame for treadmills ranging between $1,399 and $1,999. If you are going to buy a treadmill at that price, make sure the warranty on parts and on wear items is at least three years or more.

A Schwinn treadmill tends to be a lot lighter than the competition. Other brands offer more reliable and stable treadmills.

Expert Reviews

The Schwinn 820P treadmill was rated a 2005 "best buy" by a leading consumer magazine.

At ConsumerSearch.com, their consensus report shows how many times a product has been top picked by reviewers. The Schwinn 820P treadmill was picked once.

Treadmilldoctor.com said, “Their (Schwinn) design philosophy seems to be to make a good treadmill and put the money where it is important. They give their machines decent core drive system parts and then cut corners wherever possible.”

Conclusion

Overall, a Schwinn treadmill is just an average performing machine. It is not horrible it is not amazing, it is simply in between. If you are looking for the best treadmills in the same price range, look at Smooth, Sole, Pacemaster or Vision treadmills. You won’t regret it.

Schwinn 820P Treadmill - *BEST VALUE WITHIN SCHWINN*

Schwinn Treadmill - Schwinn 820P treadmill

The Schwinn treadmill 820P is by far Schwinn’s best treadmill. It is an overall average performing treadmill. It has many programs to keep your workouts challenging. Its telemetric heart rate monitor enables you to exercise at your desired heart rate level and it also has 2 heart rate programs that automatically change the treadmill’s speed and incline in relation to your target heart rate zone.

Even though the Schwinn 820 P treadmill is Schwinn’s top model, we were highly surprised to see a consumer magazine rate the 820P as Best Buy. Its warranty on parts and wear items is very weak, it has a feeble weight, and it isn’t the best treadmill to rely on. For $1,399 (you can find the Schwinn treadmill for sale at Amazon for $1,299), we strongly recommend you take a look at a Smooth treadmill or a Sole treadmill. They are both highly recommended brands.

Schwinn 835P Treadmill

Schwinn Treadmill - Schwinn 835P treadmill

The Schwinn 835 P treadmill has a different look and feel than the 820P. It is heavier, foldable and … that’s about the only difference. For $300 more, you get less. This is why, if we had to pick a Schwinn treadmill, it would be the 820P over this one.

This Schwinn treadmill has less programs than the 820P, no telemetric heart rate monitor and no heart rate control. It has a strong motor warranty but a weak warranty on parts and wear items. Its 2.0 Hp motor is average and its belt dimension is nothing to celebrate over. Overall, we say pass and look at a Smooth treadmill, a Sole treadmill or a Pacemaster treadmill.

Schwinn 845P Treadmill

Schwinn Treadmill - Schwinn 845P treadmill

This Schwinn treadmill pretty much has the same look to it as the Schwinn 835P. The main difference is its 1 mile faster speed, and stronger motor. It also has more programs and a telemetric heart rate monitor. Overall, it offers a lot more than what the 835P has to offer.

The Schwinn 845P outperforms its two brothers but price is always a factor. For $1,999 you can get a much better performing treadmill than this one. Without a doubt! Take a look at Bodyguard treadmills or Pacemaster treadmills.
