A Spirit treadmill can range from $999 to $2,300. There are two different series of models with a total of 9 models that will be reviewed individually. Before we start the reviews, let’s take a look at Spirit’s … Company Background Spirit was founded in the early 80’s and started producing fitness equipment in the late 80’s. Since then they have shown the treadmill industry that they are well capable of producing reliable and stable treadmills. In fact, they are known for product innovation. It is only recently that Dyaco has purchased Spirit Ltd. Both Spirit and Sole are a subsidiary of Dyaco. Instead of the USA, Spirit treadmills are now produced in Taiwan. Since the move to go overseas, there haven’t been any signs of quality diminution. If anything, Dyaco has been trying to make their Spirit treadmills more value oriented. Strong Point Spirit treadmills have very strong motors for an extremely reasonable price. Other than the entry level Spirit Z8 treadmill, all Spirit treadmills have a 3.0 HP motor or higher, which is excellent. You wouldn’t want a large motor power without a warranty to back it up and Spirit has made sure of this. All their treadmills come with an excellent motor warranty and an overall good warranty. A Spirit warranty is comprised of lifetime on frame, 30 years motor, 5 years parts and 1 year labor. For the mid end range ($1000 tot $2500), this is extremely difficult to beat. Spirit treadmills are “feature” appealing. The features on a Spirit treadmill are extremely useful and practical. Two that stand out are the Speed and Elevation in Handles and the Quick Speed and Elevation buttons. These features simplify the ease of changing the treadmill’s speed and incline without compromising your workout. Weak Point Spirit doesn’t have much of a weakness. Its reliability is our main concern. Transferring Spirit treadmills’ production offshore may have an impact on the quality of the components but it is still too early to judge. Expert Reviews This is what Treadmill Doctor had to say about a Spirit treadmill, “Dyaco’s has poured quite a bit of money into the Spirit brand to revitalize it and the results are showing. Their move to a more value oriented business should help their results. “ Conclusion Spirit treadmills are extremely good mid priced machines. They are stable, well valued and have an excellent warranty. We definitely recommend a Spirit treadmill. Spirit Z8 Treadmill
This model is Spirit’s entry level treadmill. It is strategically priced at $999 to compete in the low end price range. This is a decent price but if you really want to feel the benefits of running on a Spirit treadmill, look at the Spirit Z9 treadmill and on. For $300 more, there is an astounding jump from a 1.5 HP motor to a 3.0 HP motor. It is definitely worth the extra bucks. Overall, the Spirit Z 8 treadmill does not compare to other treadmills in the same price range. It is not a bad treadmill but, to be picky, it has a very small belt, no heart rate monitor and a very low horse power motor. Even though it has one of the best warranties on the market, we strongly suggest looking at the other Spirit models. If $999 is your maximum budget, we recommend in a heart beat the Sole treadmill F63 or the Smooth treadmill 5.25. They are both fantastic machines for such a low price. Spirit Z9 Treadmill
- *BEST VALUE WITHIN SPIRIT*
This Spirit treadmill is a piece of work. A 3.0 HP motor for $1,299; wow, is the word to describe it. It is a well valued treadmill that has a good belt size and an incredible warranty. That’s not all. It has a heart rate monitor with heart rate control. This feature helps you maintain a target heart rate by automatically controlling the speed and incline relative to your heart level. It also features 10 Quick Speed and Elevation buttons to directly bring you to your desired speed level or inclination level. If you feel the buttons are still a distraction to reach for, the Sprit Z9 has a speed and incline control on the handlebars of the treadmills. If a Spirit treadmill intrigues you and you plan on doing moderate runs, this is the model to get. Great power, good cushioning, good value and a great warranty are what comprise the Spirit Z 9 treadmill as a Best Buy for this brand. Price - $1,299 Length - 76 in Width - 35 in Height - 59 in Weight - 237 lbs User Weight Capacity - 300 lbs Belt - 20 x 55 in Deck - Non Reversible Motor - 3.0 HP continuous duty motor Speed - 0.5 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 15% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 10 Programs: 5 Standard Programs, 3 User Defined Programs and 2 Heart Rate Programs Features - Speed and Elevation in Handles, Quick Speed and Elevation (10 buttons), 2.5 inch rollers Display - 6 Red LED Windows Warranty - Lifetime frame, 30 years motor, 5 years parts, 1 year labor [Back to Top] __________________________________________________
Spirit Z100 Treadmill
This Spirit treadmill is just as good as the Spirit Z9 treadmill but it is more expensive. The main difference is the look and feel of the console; it is more ergonomic and more compacted. It also has 2 extra Quick Speed and Elevation buttons, speakers (to connect your mp3 player) and a ¼ mile tracker. All these features are integrated in the console. Aside from the look and feel, the Spirit Z 100 treadmill practically performs the same as the Spirit Z9. It has a good warranty, a nice cushion and an excellent motor power but its value compared to the Z9’s value is slightly lower. We recommend you save your $300 and go with the Z9. Price - $1,599 Length - 77 in Width - 34 in Height - 55 in Weight - 233 lbs User Weight Capacity - 350 lbs Belt - 20 x 55 inch two-ply belt Deck - Non Reversible Motor - 3.0 HP continuous duty motor Speed - 0.1 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 15% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 10 Programs: 6 Standard Programs, 2 User Defined Programs and 2 Heart Rate Programs Features - Speed and Elevation in Handles, Quick Speed and Elevation (12 buttons), ¼ Mile Track, Speakers, 2.75 inch rollers Display - 6 Red LED Windows Warranty - Lifetime frame, 30 years motor, 5 years parts, 1 year labor [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ Spirit Z300 Treadmill
This Spirit treadmill is practically identical to the Spirit Z100. The only difference is the added orthopedic belt. *Note* An orthopedic belt will not make a huge difference in cushioning. It weighs more than a regular belt and this will create the motor to work harder. Consequently, in the long run, the orthopedic belt will reduce your treadmills life span. Instead, we suggest a pair of running shoes with good padding. Save your money and go with the Spirit Z100 treadmill or with the Spirit Z9 treadmill. Price - $1,699 Length - 77 in Width - 34 in Height - 56 in Weight - 248 lbs User Weight Capacity - 350 lbs Belt - 20 x 55 inch Orthopedic belt Deck - Non Reversible Motor - 3.0 HP continuous duty motor Speed - 0.5 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 15% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 10 Programs: 6 Standard Programs, 2 User Defined Programs and 2 Heart Rate Programs Features - Speed and Elevation in Handles, Quick Speed and Elevation (12 buttons), ¼ Mile Track, Speakers, Orthopedic Belt, 2.75 inch rollers Display - 6 Red LED Windows Warranty - Lifetime frame, 30 years motor, 5 years parts, 1 year labor [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ Spirit Z500 Treadmill - RECOMMENDED WITHIN $1,500 - $1,999
This is the biggest Z series Spirit treadmill. It is an extremely long treadmill so make sure you will have room prior to purchasing it. It has a large 20 x 58 belt size, which is the largest dimension in the Z series. It also has a tri-color console so that the readings are color coded. The Spirit Z500 treadmill, as with other Spirit treadmills, has an excellent motor power and a very good warranty. Online, the price currently stands at approximately $2,075 but if you locate a dealer near you off the Spiritfitness.com website, you may be able to find it for $1,999 or cheaper. Overall, this model is definitely a good treadmill worth buying. Price - $1,699 Length - 80 in Width - 34 in Height - 59 in Weight - 248 lbs User Weight Capacity - 375 lbs Belt - 20 x 58 inch two-ply belt Deck - Non Reversible Motor - 3.0 HP continuous duty motor Speed - 0.5 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 15% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 10 Programs: 5 Standard Programs, 3 User Defined Programs and 2 Heart Rate Programs Features - Speed and Elevation in Handles, Quick Speed and Elevation (12 buttons), ¼ Mile Track, Speakers, 2.75 inch rollers, HR% Graph, Cooling Fans Display - 6 Tri-Color LED Windows with a Heart Rate Percentage Graph Warranty - Lifetime frame, 30 years motor, 5 years parts, 1 year labor [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ Spirit Z700 Treadmill
This is the only Spirit treadmill in the Z series that is non-foldable. You will definitely feel the great stability it provides at a very good price. Even though it has the same features as the Spirit Z500, it is more compact and better valued. The warranty is a good prediction of how serious Spirit is willing to back up their treadmills. Lifetime frame, 30 years motor, 5 years parts, 1 year labor is quite a solid warranty. We see it as good collateral. For the price, you simply can’t go wrong with the Spirit Z 700 treadmill. It offers such a good overall package. Price - $1,899 Length - 75 in Width - 34 in Height - 59 in Weight - 212 lbs User Weight Capacity - 375 lbs Belt - 20 x 58 inch two-ply belt Deck - Non Reversible Motor - 3.0 HP continuous duty motor Speed - 0.5 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 15% Folding - No Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 10 Programs: 5 Standard Programs, 3 User Defined Programs and 2 Heart Rate Programs Features - Speed and Elevation in Handles, Quick Speed and Elevation (12 buttons), ¼ Mile Track, Speakers, 2.75 inch rollers, HR% Graph, Cooling Fans Display - 6 Tri-Color LED Windows with a Heart Rate Percentage Graph Warranty - Lifetime frame, 30 years motor, 5 years parts, 1 year labor [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ Spirit XT200 Treadmill
This Spirit treadmill is the entry level of the X series. In general, all the X series treadmills have a spectacular 3.5 HP motor with a heart rate monitor and heart rate control. They are also all featured packed, which you can see below. For $1,599 this is a no brainer. A powerful motor, a good belt size, many programs, a very good warranty and a fantastic console with built in speakers are all strong contributors of why we recommend the Spirit XT 200 treadmill. Price - $1,599 Length - in Width - in Height - in Weight - lbs User Weight Capacity - 350 lbs Belt - 20 x 55 inch two-ply belt Deck - Non Reversible Motor - 3.5 HP continuous duty motor Speed - 0.1 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 15% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 10 Programs: 6 Standard Programs, 2 User Defined Programs and 2 Heart Rate Programs Features - Speed and Elevation in Handles, Quick Speed and Elevation, ¼ Mile Track, Speakers, 2.75 inch rollers, HR% Graph, Cooling Fans Display - Warranty - Lifetime frame, Lifetime motor, 5 years parts, 2 year labor [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ Spirit XT600 Treadmill - RECOMMENDED WITHIN $1,500 - $1,999
The Spirit XT 600 treadmill is pretty much identical to the Spirit XT 200 but the running dimensions are bigger. It too has an overall good rating with a good warranty to back it up. The only question is, do you want the longer running space for $300 more or would the 55 inch belt on the XT 200 suffice? Three inches longer might not seem that much but it definitely makes a difference. Go with which ever you prefer, they are both good treadmills. Price - $ 1,899 Length - in Width - in Height - in Weight - lbs User Weight Capacity - 375 lbs Belt - 20 x 58 inch two-ply belt Deck - Non Reversible Motor - 3.5 HP continuous duty motor Speed - 0.1 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 15% Folding - Yes Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - Yes Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 10 Programs: 6 Standard Programs, 2 User Defined Programs and 2 Heart Rate Programs Features Speed and Elevation in Handles, Quick Speed and Elevation, ¼ Mile Track, Speakers, 2.75 inch rollers, HR% Graph, Cooling Fans Display - Warranty - Lifetime frame, Lifetime motor, 5 years parts, 2 year labor [Back to Top] __________________________________________________ Spirit XT800 Treadmill
This is the only Spirit treadmill under the X series that is non-foldable. It also has the widest and longest running space. If you think the Spirit’s 20 x 58 inch running area was big how about 22 x 60 inches? It’s not every brand that can afford to make such big dimensions. The 3.5 HP motor can definitely handle the mechanics of spinning the belt continuously without it lagging. For $2,199, you can expect a solid lasting treadmill with long term quality components. If you are comfortable running on a smaller belt size then by all means, take a look at the Spirit XT600 treadmill. Price - $ 2,199 Length - in Width - in Height - in Weight - lbs User Weight Capacity - 400 lbs Belt - 22 x 60 inch two-ply belt Deck - Non Reversible Motor - 3.5 HP continuous duty motor Speed - 0.1 to 12 mph Incline - 0 to 15% Folding - No Heart Rate - Yes Heart Rate Control - No Wireless Chest Strap - No Programs - 8 Programs: 6 Standard Programs, 2 User Defined Programs Features Speed and Elevation in Handles, Quick Speed and Elevation, ¼ Mile Track, Speakers, 3.0 inch rollers, HR% Graph, Cooling Fans Display - Warranty - Lifetime frame, Lifetime motor, 5 years parts, 2 year labor [Back to Top] Explanation of all Spirit treadmill features: | Feature | Description | | Quick Speed and Elevation | With a touch of a button, you can immediately jump to your desired speed or elevation level. | | Speed and Elevation in Handles | You can control the speed and elevation of the treadmill through the handlebars. | Click on the links below to go back to the models review: Spirit Z8 Treadmill Spirit Z9 Treadmill - *Best Value Within Spirit* Spirit Z100 Treadmill Spirit Z300 Treadmill Spirit Z500 Treadmill - *Recommended Within $1,500 - $1,999* Spirit Z700 Treadmill Spirit XT200 Treadmill Spirit XT600 Treadmill - *Recommended Within $1,500 - $1,999* Spirit XT800 Treadmill [Back to Top] BiGFiTNESS.net offers a 31 day money back guarantee on their products.
